This is all Christ asked of us, go and make Disciples of all nations! Matt 28:19
Matthew 28:19-20 states it best, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
John also shares this in 13:34-35, "A new command I give you; Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love on another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
And finally, Luke 14:26-27 shares, "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters - yes, even their own life - such a person cannot be my disciple. 27) And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. And Luke warns in 14:33, "I the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples."
From Luke, my thoughts for you is to realize that we have lost our saltiness by allowing Saturday , the TRUE Sabbath, to be changed to Sunday, allowing the death and resurrection to be tainted by the pagan title of easter, and thirdly celebrating holidays of man and not those instructed to us by God himself! This is stated in Luke 14:34-35, "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear."
I really felt Gods anger as I completely read the bible and then searched into the Catechism of the Catholic church for more evidence. Here is some of what I found, starting with the Bible, Gods Word, first.
It starts in Exodus 20:8-11, "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to THE LORD YOUR GOD. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy." Did you catch that, this is a sabbath TO THE LORD YOUR GOD! Not just for us, but to Him also!
Then God makes it crystal clear in Exodus 31:15, "For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy TO the Lord. Whoever does any work in the Sabbath day is to be put to death." This was so important that God had to repeat it in Deuteronomy 5:12, "Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has COMMANDED YOU." Versus 13 and 14 repeat the Exodus message again! Thank God He sent his son to forgive us of this sin and many more!
This message is repeated again in Leviticus 23:3, stating, "There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, a day of SACRED ASSEMBLY. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath TO THE LORD." Reminding us AGAIN, that this is our time to praise GOD! Leviticus 16:31 makes it crystal clear, "It is a day of sabbath rest, and you must deny yourselves; it is a lasting ordinance."
Then, God told Jeremiah in 17:24, "But if you are careful to obey me, declares the Lord, and bring no load through the gates of this city on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy by not doing any work on it" then support will come and help them out of their troubles. However, that didn't happen. Jeremiah is one of the saddest stories in the bible in my opinion.
Okay, lets hear what Jesus has to say about the Sabbath:
Matthew 12:8, "For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath". That sounds pretty powerful. He then adds in 11-12, "He said to them, 'If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath". This was telling the biblical people of this time to stop being nit-picky about what can and cannot be done on the Sabbath.
Matthew also clearly states what day the Sabbath is, in Matthew 28:1, "After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb." The first day of the week back in their day was Sunday.
Here is another reference in Luke 23 55-56, "The woman who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment." They new the 10 commandments and lived by them!
And, Jesus reminds us of the importance of keeping the Sabbath, in Hebrews 4:8-11, "For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from their works, just as God did from His. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience."
It is also stated in Hebrew 4:14-16, that Jesus is the Great High Priest. Never did it say we were to have a Pope! Ugh. Save that for another time.
Page 581, cat 2175 "Sunday is expressly distinguished from the sabbath which it follows chronologically every week; for Christians its ceremonial observance replaces that of the sabbath." It replaces??? This was done by MAN!
Page 582, cat 2176 "The celebration of Sunday observes the moral commandment inscribed by nature in the human heart to render to God an outward, visible, public, and regular worship 'as a sign of his universal beneficence to all.' Sunday worship fulfills the moral command of the Old Covenant, taking up its rhythm and spirit in the weekly celebration of the Creator and Redeemer of his people." There was no MORAL command to change the day in the Old Covenant!
Page 583, cat 2180, "The precept of the church specifies the law of the Lord more precisely: "On Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound to participate in the Mass. The precept of participating in the Mass is satisfied by assistance at a Mass which is celebrated anywhere in a catholic rite either on the holy day or on the evening of the preceding day" This just makes me sick typing it! He died but didn't make this sect boss!
Page 584, they try to justify it with cat 2184, "Just as God 'rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done,' human life has a rhythm of work and rest. The institution of the Lord's day helps everyone enjoy adequate rest and leisure to cultivate their familial, cultural, social, and religious lives." THEY call Sunday the Lords day, not the bible. And where in here does it say to praise God like it does in the Bible?
Last cat before I puke, page 586, cat 2190, "The sabbath, which represented the completion of the first creation, has been replaced by Sunday which recalls the new creation inaugurated by the Resurrection of Christ." They openly admit they did this and after Jesus had left. The Roman catholics make me disgusted. There is even more sin in their law book, save that for when I can keep my food down.
There is NO WHERE in the Bible the word Easter.
It was the Roman catholics, and Constantine who joined others celebrations with the death and resurrection of Christ. This was done AFTER Jesus ascended back to Heaven.
Easter starts in the Catechisms on page 329, cat 1163, "Holy Mother church believes that she should celebrate the saving work of her divine Spouse in a sacred commemoration on certain days throughout the course of the year. Once each week, on the day which she as called the Lord's Day, she keeps the memory of the Lord's resurrection. She also celebrates it once every year, together with his blessed Passion, at Easter, that most solemn of all feasts." and more. The believe that his mother Mary is a god and we all go through her as well to get to God.
Page 331, cat 1168 states, "Beginning with the easter triduum (they have pictures for these three days that are graven idols, a sin in the eyes of God) as its source of light, the new age of the Resurrection fills the whole liturgical year with its brilliance." And more, it's sad.
Cat 1169 shares, "Therefore easter is not simply one feast among others, but the "Feast of feasts," the "Solemnity of solemnities," just as the Eucharist is the "Sacrament of sacraments" (the Great Sacrament). St. Athanasius calls easter "the Great Sunday".
Cat 1170 also shares, "At the Council of Nicaea in 325, all the Churches agreed that easter, the Christian Passover, should be celebrated on the Sunday following the first full moon (14 Nisan) after the vernal equinox. Because of different methods of calculating the 14th day of the month of Nisan, the date of easter in the Western and Eastern Churches is not always the same. For this reason, the Churches are currently seeking an agreement in order once again to celebrate the day of the Lord's Resurrection on a common date." As you can see, this has not happened yet, why? Because it doesn't apply to the pagan holiday that they have married it towards.
Okay, let's get back to the Real Word, the Bible!
This verse seems fitting, Psalms 4:2, "How long will you people turn my glory into shame? Ho long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
Isaiah 41:29, "See, they are all false! Their deeds amount to nothing, their images are but wind and confusion"
Here is one that applies closer to easter with it's eggs (the ship Eostre flew down in from the moon, LOL) and the ham (her son Horus was killed by a Boar, was dead for three days (sound familiar, as Constantine worshipped the Sun god, her husband) so Eostre declared the Boar to be killed and served in memory of her son.
Numbers 25:2, "who invited them to the sacrifices to their gods. The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods"
Psalms 81:9 tells you how God feels about foreign gods, "You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not worship any god other than me."
Jeremiah 7:9 looks like our society today, as stated, "Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Ball and follow other gods you have not known,"
Jeremiah 9:14 hits home, "Instead, they have followed the stubbornness of their hearts; they have followed the Baals, as their ancestors taught them." Our people didn't fight when they had the chance. Mainly because Constantine was killing them for being Jews.
Joshua tells us what to do in 24:23, "Now then, said Joshua, "throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel." We should listen!
However, God said in Judges 2:3, "And I have also said, 'I will not drive them out before you; they will become traps for you, and their gods will become snares to you."
It is also said in Judges, 2:12, "They forsook the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around."
And many more in the old Testament. So I will shift to the most dominate one in the new Testament:
1 Corinthians 8:7, "But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled." Without full knowledge of the Bible, one will never see the repetitive nature of what really makes God Mad!
The Four Harvests/Feasts:
1. Passover (Pesach), Barley Harvest, Feast of Unleavened Bread. Means literally, 'time of our freedom'. Unleavened bread festival is to eat unleavened bread for 7 days (Exodus 12:15)
The 1st full moon following the spring equinox
2. Shavuot. Feast of First Fruits takes place in late spring. It is generally near Passover.
As stated by openthebible.org, "The Feast of Weeks (or first fruits) points us both to the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Wheat Harvest, Pentecost. 50 days from the Feast of the First Fruits. This feast of Shavuot is also a celebration of the Torah.
3. Feast of trumpets
The Feast of Trumpets begins with Rosh Hashanah. The celebrations continue for ten days of repentance, culminating on Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement. This starts on the 1st day of the seventh month.
4. Sukkot, Feast of Tabernacles, or Festival of Gathering.
The 15th day of the 7th month. Torah-commanded holiday for 7 days.
Purim days of Celebration. Queen Esther stopped the annihilation of the Jews. Esther 9:28 states, "These days should be remembered and observed in every generation by every family, and in every province and in every city". It's an important two days for both Jews and Gentiles now.
Passover should also be celebrated by itself. This is when the Lord stepped out and showed the world his ultimate power. This finally released the Israelites from Egypt.
